Description of the interpretation trails


The Pond The Pond (0.8 km):
The Pond trail offers an introduction to the Johnville Bog & Forest Park. Close to the parking area, this trail provides a brief overview of bog ecology and the phenomenon of deglaciation. View the pond from two lookouts. Learn how nature and culture are closely linked with a stop close to water collection stations dating back to the turn of the last century.



The Bog (1.7 km)
The Bog The Bog trail starts a little less than 300 meters from the parking lot on Chemin des Lacs. Admire the Park's most astonishing landscapes while keeping your feet dry! Observe the many faces of the Johnville Bog - from dense forest to low-growing schrubland to an open area overrun with moss. Discover the secrets of the bog?its origin, characteristics and fragility.




The Esker (0,3 km) and the Kettle
Esker On the Esker Trail and from the Kettle Viewpoint, you can see landscapes that were carved by the enormous glacier that covered the region many thousands of years ago.

Tangible signs of the deglaciation can still be observed. Learn about the origins of eskers and kettles and the characteristics of the ecosystems they support.





The Fauna (1.0 km)
faune Discover the Park's wildlife while enjoying the tranquility of Grand Lac Jenckes. The trail can be reached from the end of Chemin des Lacs. Two areas allow access to the lake. Learn which animals find food and refuge in the Park, which are merely visitors, and which rarer species depend on peat bogs for their survival.
